Mobile Suit Gundam MSV-R: Johnny Ridden no Kikan Manga Ends After 13 Years – News

Manga launched in 2010 as part of MSV-R design project

The September issue of Kadokawa‘s Gundam Ace magazine published the final chapter of Ark Performance‘s Mobile Suit Gundam MSV-R: Johnny Ridden no Kikan (The Return of Johnny Ridden) manga on Wednesday. The manga’s 26th and final compiled book volume will ship on September 26.

The story begins in U.C.0090 with a Federation investigative committee that is doing research on little known mobile suits used towards the tail end of the One-Year War, as well as their pilots. One such pilot is the Zeon ace Johnny Ridden.

The manga features and showcases mobile suit designs from the Gundam franchise‘s MSV-R (Mobile Suit Variations R) project, which is not a story, but instead a series of variations on existing U.C. mobile suit designs, or original designs by mecha designer Kunio Okawara. The designs have been compiled in a number of sourcebooks, and featured narratively in some spinoff manga, of which Johnny Ridden no Kikan is a part of.

Mobile Suit Gundam MSV-R: Johnny Ridden no Kikan launched in Gundam Ace in April 2010. Kadokawa published the manga’s 25th volume on March 25.

Ark Performance and Koujirou Nakamura produced the Mobile Suit Gundam Twilight AXIS novel in Yatate Bunko — Sunrise’s light novel imprint — in November 2016. The novel inspired six-episode series of net anime shorts. The first episode debuted with English subtitles in June 2017. The novels also inspired a manga.

Ark Performance launched the ongoing Arpeggio of Blue Steel manga in Shonengahosha‘s Young King Ours magazine in 2009. Seven Seas Entertainment is publishing the manga in print in North America, and Crunchyroll is publishing the manga online. The manga inspired a television anime, which Crunchyroll streamed as it aired in Japan in 2013, and two anime films.

The official website for Tokubetsuhen Hibike! Euphonium: Ensemble Contest, Kyoto Animation‘s theatrical anime of the “Ensemble Concert” arc of its Sound! Euphonium anime, revealed on Thursday that theatergoers to the film from August 4-10 will receive a pamphlet with one of three short stories from original light novel author Ayano Takeda.

The short story that theatergoers receive is random, and the pamphlets are limited in number. The short stories center on Kumiko and Reina; Hazuki, Sapphire, and Tsubame; and Natsuki and Kanade. The pamphlets are each a total of 12 pages in length and also feature specially drawn illustrations.

The franchise’s first new sequel anime in four years will open in Japan on August 4 in 74 theaters.

Kyoto Animation previously teased that the “Ensemble Concert” arc would get a “medium-length” anime (longer than a short, shorter than a feature). The anime will have both theatrical screenings and a Blu-ray Disc release.

Tatsuya Ishihara is returning to direct the anime at Kyoto Animation. Taichi Ogawa is the assistant director, Jukki Hanada is writing the script, Shoko Ikeda is designing the characters, Kazumi Ikeda is the chief animation director, and Akito Matsuda is composing the music. Maya is a formidable presence in the school competition circuit, and Sapphire’s former school.

Mari Okada, MAPPA’s Maboroshi Anime Film Unveils Miyuki Nakajima’s New Song, More Characters in Trailer – News

The staff for Mari Okada and MAPPA‘s original anime film Maboroshi (Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Kōjō, or literally, Alice and Therese’s Illusory Factory) debuts its full trailer on Wednesday. The trailer previews Miyuki Nakajima‘s theme song “Shin-on” (Heartbeat), and it also confirms the characters for more cast members (previously revealed in a poster visual last Friday):

The newly confirmed cast members and their roles include:

visual

The film will premiere on September 15, and will star Junya Enoki as 14-year-old protagonist Masamune Kikuiri, Reina Ueda as Masamune’s classmate Atsumi Sagami, and Misaki Kuno as the mysterious girl Itsumi (character name spellings are not confirmed). The film also stars:

Koji Seto as Akimune Kikuiri (character name spellings are not confirmed), the protagonist Masamune’s father who works at a steel mill

akimune

Kento Hayashi as Tokimune Kikuiri, Masamune’s uncle who also works at the steel mill

tokimune

The film centers on third-year middle school student Masamune, who lives in a town where time has stopped because a sudden explosion at a steelworks factory has sealed off all exits to the town. In order to hopefully one day return to normal, the residents of the town are forbidden from changing, and they live out their gloomy everyday lives. Masamune’s enigmatic classmate Atsumi leads him one day to the fifth blast furnace of the steelworks factory, and there they meet a girl who is wild like a wolf and who cannot talk. The meeting of Masamune and these two girls upsets the balance of the world. The unstoppable “love impulse” of the boys and girls who are tired of their everyday lives begins to destroy the world.

Okada is writing and directing the film, which MAPPA originally announced in 2021. Okada is also credited with the original work. Okada also wrote a novel of the film that Kadokawa Bunko released on June 13.

Tadashi Hiramatsu is serving as the assistant director, and Yuriko Ishii (Another, Persona -trinity soul-) is designing the characters and serving as chief animation director. Kazuki Higashiji (Angel Beats!, Hanasaku Iroha – Blossoms for Tomorrow, The Piano Forest) is directing the art. All of the above animators collaborated on Okada’s Maquia – When the Promised Flower Blooms film. Masaru Yokoyama (Her Blue Sky, Horimiya) is composing the music. Warner Bros. is distributing the film.

Singer-songwriter Miyuki Nakajima is performing the film’s theme song titled “Shin-on” (Heartbeat). This is the first time that the veteran singer has performed a theme song for any anime or game. (Nakajima’s songs have appeared in other anime’s soundtracks, and she wrote songs for Cosmowarrior Zero and Space Battleship Yamato 2199 for other singers.) Okada personally asked Nakajima for the theme song last fall. At first, Nakajima wondered about the request since she knows little about anime or games. However, Nakajima became convinced after reading Okada’s script, and created the song specifically for the film.

Why Dragon was present at Gol D. Roger’s Execution? – One Piece

In chapter 0, during Roger’s execution, we see several notorious pirates present in Loguetown like Shanks, Buggy, Doflamingo, Mihawk, Moria, Crocodile.
We also see the infamous Monkey D. Dragon before he got his tattoo.

Why would he have any interest in the execution of the Pirate King? He is the only one with a rather concerned and serious look in the panel. (You might say Mihawk as well, but Mihawk seems like he is just merely observing)

Along with Buggy and Shanks, he is the only one who seems a bit worried or sad for the execution. Not entirely tearing up or sobbing like Shanks or Buggy, but it’s almost as if he were concerned or – at the very least – understood, to some extent, why Roger chose to be executed.

Is it possible that he may have spoken to Roger at some point before his execution? Maybe Roger recognized him as Garp’s son and a fellow member of the D.

I think that Roger and Dragon definitely met. I believe that Roger may have spoken a bit about the history of the World and the Poneglyphs with Dragon – seeing as that he trusted Garp very much and that he was also a D. After the execution, I believe Dragon was inspired to start the Revolutionary Army.

Dragon has a very good sense of justice, as we saw in the ASL flashback, when he notes that Sabo thinks just like he thinks about the status of the nobles and how society worked.

In the Reverie flashback of Vivi, we saw that Dragon had just began to be recognized as a threat to the World Government, so he couldn’t have been a Revolutionary at the time of Roger’s execution.
In chapter 100, as Luffy is spared from being executed by Buggy, we see Dragon with a rather badass self-monologue.

“That which cannot be stopped: inherited will, a man’s dream, and the flow of time. As long as a man continues to seek the answers to freedom, these things shall never be stopped” – These were the words of Gol D. Roger. I believe Roger spoke these words DIRECTLY to Dragon, before having said it to the public in his execution.

-Inherited Will: I believe Roger may have told Dragon about the lineage of the D. Just like he told Whitebeard about it.

-A Man’s Dream: I believe this is a reference to what the Roger Pirates learned about the Ancient Kingdom and the Will of their leader – Joy Boy.

-The Flow of Time: It has been 800 years since the fall of the Ancient Kingdom and the end of the Void Century – only time will bring these things together in motion.

Although I don’t think Dragon knew the entirety of the Void Century as Roger, Rayleigh, Scopper Gaban and the others did, I believe Dragon’s learning of the Will of D. set out on a mission to overthrow the World Government and their injustice to bring it True Justice and Freedom.

That is why Dragon got those Shandian-like tattoos on his face – maybe as a sign of his lineage to the D. Clan and the Ancient Kingdom – as we know the Shandian’s were, at the very least, an ally of Joy Boy and the Ancient Kingdom.

The Meaning Of D. In One Piece – One Piece

The “Will of D.” is a mystery surrounding some people who have the initial “D.” in their names. Let’s see the possible meanings of D.:

1 – Dawn

It’s the most obvious one, a lot of people already thought about it since the first chapter of One Piece is called Romance dawn, and a lot of character have mentioned the “Dawn of the world” as the big event that the Straw Hats are supposed to bring in to the world.

Kozuki Toki said in her prophecy that someone will bring a new dawn.

2 – Devil

This hit me recently, the D. are “the natural enemy of gods”, what is the natural enemy of God? The Devil.

In One Piece the Celestial Dragons call themselves Gods and rules by pretending through the World Government that they are the good guys that takes down the evil pirates. But we know that in reality they are doing the most evil stuff hidden in the shadows, so it seems very fair for people like that calling themselves God that the one who can take them down would be the “Devils” or “Demons”.

There have been a lot of time where Luffy has been called a Demon in One Piece, and we know he doesn’t want at all to be a hero, so him taking down the so called “Gods” by being considered the “Devil” seems really fits.

What is even more going for this possiblity is the fact that , since the D. are the ones who are supposed to bring “the Dawn of the world”, one of the equivalent word for Devil is “Lucifer” and in Latin “Lucifer” literally means “the one who brings light”.

3 – Dream/Dreamer

In my opinion this one is the most likely to be the significiance of D. Roger said before he died that the One Piece is “what every man can dream of”, and we know that the will of D. and the One Piece are completely connected.

The story of the Straw Hats is a story of people going on a journey to achieve their dreams.

In general One Piece is a story where the strongest character is the one who have the strongest will to accomplish his goal. So I think that’s what it could be the Will of D., the will of Dream, the will of the people who will do anything to accomplish their dreams. And since most of these dreams are related to freedom in some way, overthrowing this tyrannic organisation that rules the world, it’s a necessity to see these dreams come true, which is why the ones who have the Will of Dreams are the natural Enemy of Gods, because they won’t accept the natural order of the world if it’s in the way of what they want.

Episode 15 – Sacrificial Princess & the King of Beasts

One crucial scene in this episode feeds directly into the series’ endgame. It’s likely not the one you think, but trust me that it’s very significant. Of course, it pales in comparison to virtually every scene with Maalo the little armadillo (armadillian?) – can we all agree that anyone who would hurt him must be dealt with severely? He even manages to charm the prickly Ilya, which is no small feat.

Ilya’s encounter with Maalo is more than just an excuse for Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts to cram cuteness into our eyeballs. Ilya has harbored a hatred for beastkind since his family’s deaths at their hands, and he’s allowed himself to become convinced that all beasts are human-murdering scum. When he hears that children are being kidnapped by beastkind, he immediately heads out to take care of the problem, only to discover that it’s beast kids being kidnapped by humans. To say that this is an uncomfortable realization would be an understatement, and Ilya is utterly unprepared for Maalo to be like any other child. His previous hatreds and assumptions are tested in the face of Maalo’s charm, politeness, and trust. It’s a close call, but when Ilya realizes that Maalo’s cries for help sound just like his deceased little sister’s, it all comes home to him. Hatred doesn’t help anything; it just begets more hatred. Maalo doesn’t care that Ilya is a human; he only knows that Ilya saved him and is leading him home. When Ilya understands this, he turns around and does the right thing. It isn’t a complete surrender of his biases because this show understands that such deep-seated prejudice doesn’t just vanish overnight. But it’s a step in the right direction and a reinforcement of what Sariphi asked him to consider: that beasts are just as human (for lack of a better word) as humans. “They look different” isn’t a valid excuse for hatred.

That’s something that Anubis could stand to learn, although he’s getting better. He’s still not thrilled with Sari’s presence or her weird little friend group, but he’s gotten used to them, and that’s a pretty big step for him. It’s Lante who points out how odd Sariphi’s situation is: she’s a human marrying the beast king, her best friend is an alligator, her helpers are cyclopes, and her guard captain is a hyena. None of it makes sense on the surface, but once you get closer to her group, it all makes perfect sense. Everyone has something to contribute to the rest, and Sari’s willing acceptance of that makes everything work.

Lante has quickly become an excellent addition to the team, and I’m not just saying that because I love how his tongue is often out of his mouth, just like my dog Max. (Max has no teeth. The vet calls him “sideways tongue boy.”) This week he steps in to help both Sari and Amit when Jormungand breaks Amit’s heart by returning the amulet she made him; he tries to explain what might be going through Jor’s head. When that doesn’t fully work, he challenges the other man to a duel, not because he desperately wants to fight him (although he enjoys it), but because he wants Sari and Amit to feel better about the situation. Amit may not want to see Jor get hurt, but she needs to see that there’s more than a perceived rejection going on, and Lante does help with that.

The group will need to be close-knit for what’s to come. It looks like there’s something very like a rebellion brewing, and even Anubis’ careful machinations and Leonhart’s desire to do what’s right are going to need a little help if everyone is going to come out unscathed.
